Well that may be true, but there is so much more to it than meets the eye (forgive the pun).

When designing for publications, brochures, banners, art, web design or in fact anything, we have to take into account that images may be reproduced in numerous formats for different platforms and uses. For example, out 'little kitty' image featured here on this web page is also in one of our print publications. Ok so far. But the image for the print publication (a direct mail piece) needs to be HIGH RESOLUTION and also LOW RESOLUTION for the web page (this is for page loading speed which can affect search engine ranking etc.)
The challenge is to make both images appear high quality. Take a look below and use the slider to see the high res image and low res image side by side. Hopefully you will not notice ANY DIFFERENCE. But then take a look at the second example and you will see what POOR IMAGE control looks like - The low res image in example 2 is the same file size as the low res cat image but much poorer quality - This is one of our skills, making images look good at lower resolutions.
